Who is
Dr. Phil?
The following quote is from Dr. Phil's website...
Dr. Phil McGraw has
galvanized millions of people to "get real" about their own behavior and
create more positive lives. His nationally syndicated daily one-hour series,
Dr. Phil, has been making headlines and breaking records since its
September 2002 launch, when it garnered the highest ratings of any new
syndicated show since the launch of The Oprah Winfrey Show 16 years
prior.
People
magazine named Dr. Phil one of the "Most Intriguing People of 2002," while
Barbara Walters included Dr. Phil in her 2002 "Ten Most Fascinating People"
special. Newsweek dedicated a September 2002 cover story to Dr.
Phil, which turned out to be the magazine's best-selling profile cover of
the year."

Also,
there is a strong and malicious
homosexual
movement today, hell-bent on corrupting society by perverting the Word of
God into a lie (Romans 1:25). Satan is working relentlessly through the
educational system, TV shows, cable programs like
The History Channel, and many other avenues to promote homosexuality
(i.e., "Sodomy" in the Old Testament). Dr. Phil is no friend of God, and
no friend to Christianity (James 4:4; 2nd Corinthians 6:14-17; Ephesians 5:11).
Homosexuality is a horrible sin,
strongly condemned in the Word of God. The fact that Dr. Phil promotes the
homosexual lifestyle and abortion is further evidence that he is an unsaved
modernist, a hater of God, an imposter, and an enemy to Christianity.
Discerning Dr. Phil
18 October 2005
Dr. Phil McGraw is currently the recognized
popular authority on all issues related to life. His entrance into fame,
via the aid of Oprah Winfrey, led to a spark among Americans to find peace
and the good life through following the advice of a smart, likable and
tough-minded psychologist. Even many Christians have embraced Dr. Phil as
a powerful authority on life.
“Get Real” With Some Biblical Principles
Dr. Phil made the “Top 50 Most Influential Christians” list, just barely,
at #50 (thechurchreport.com). On one of his shows, he has stated that God
is his “Higher Power,” and that he is a Christian. Furthermore, the
principles that he postulates are quite often similar to the principles
that we find scattered throughout the Bible. For example, Dr. Phil
believes and teaches that people must take personal responsibility for
their actions and quit playing “the role of victim” (Dr. Phil’s Ten Life
Laws, #2). We find this same principle many times in the Bible, stated in
the form of a warning that we must answer to the Lord for the choices we
make. “But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you
are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of
the righteous judgment of God, who ‘will render to each one according to
his deeds’” (Romans 2:5-6).
However, Dr. Phil never refers to the Bible as an authority on life. In
fact, he rarely if ever refers to any higher authority at all. His advice
comes from himself, as he sees and interprets life. This does not make his
points untrue, for it is clear that Dr. Phil often speaks truth and often
helps people, but his points are not linked to another source of authority
that we can test.
It is also clear that Dr. Phil carries much New Age baggage. This becomes
apparent when he speaks about “defining your authentic self.” Instead of
promoting prayer, Dr. Phil suggests “eliminating your negative internal
dialogue,” which he describes as something that “powerfully programs and
shapes your self-concept.” In order to eliminate the negative internal
dialogue, a person should go through several exercises during the course
of a chosen day, ending with self-focused questions like, “You’re the one
who talks to you, all day, every day. What kind of friend are you?” So
instead of looking upward to God for help, Dr. Phil teaches that we should
look inward and help ourselves.
Overall, the advice that Dr. Phil offers is a surface level, loose
collection of fortune cookie pop-psychology, finding its source in some
unmentioned biblical principles and some New Age principles.
What Should a Christian Do?
Dr. Phil has been truly helpful to Christians and non-Christians alike,
helping people take a look at life and make real steps to correct problems
in relationships, finances, health, parenting, and many other areas. For
this, he must be commended. As a believer, I have personally benefited
from listening to his advice and following many of the steps he
postulates. But as believers we must be heavily discerning. It is easy to
substitute a daily dose of Dr. Phil for regular Bible reading and prayer.
Dr. Phil may offer helpful advice, but he has never offered anyone the
answers they really need – how to be saved from the wrath of an angry God,
how to recognize our rebellion against God, or how to walk closer to Jesus
Christ each day. A Christian who listens to Dr. Phil must be wise enough
to know if a certain piece of advice corresponds to a biblical principle
(and how) or if the advice is based on self-focused, New Age principles,
which never bring glory to God.
I could never recommend to anyone that they listen to Dr. Phil. There are
plenty of strong pastors who can be found at a local church, on the radio,
or via internet ministries who offer equally strong advice anchored
totally in the Word of God. These spiritual leaders are not ashamed to
state where they receive their information and they do not mix it with New
Age spirituality. Furthermore, I would advise weaker Christians who are
dodging Scripture and prayer and trusting in Dr. Phil instead (some may be
addicted to him) to stop watching him altogether. Stronger Christians who
can discern truth from error might find some of his words helpful in a
limited sense.
The bottom line is Dr. Phil is dangerous for the soul. He offers enough
truth and insight and goodness that Christians are enticed to listen, but
he mixes enough self-focused, error-laden, pop-psychology to lead a soul
away from Christ into self-dependence and into ruin. -SOURCE
Erroneous Medical Advice?
The
following quote is from
WIKIPEDIA.com...
In January 2006, in a
segment titled "Extreme Disorders", Dr. Phil's show presented inaccurate
information about the treatment of two neurological conditions (Tourette
syndrome and
Asperger syndrome). Information from
Quackwatch and the
American Psychiatric Association suggest that the
information Dr. Phil and his guest, Dr. Hipskind, gave about the usefulness
of
brain imaging for treatment and diagnosis of these
conditions was not only wrong, but possibly dangerous. Various advocacy
organizations, such as NAMI, and others representing persons with
ADHD,
OCD,
and
autism have taken issue with Dr. Phil's
information about neuropsychiatric conditions." -SOURCE
Zoo Trainers are Better Equipped to
Deal with Americans Than Shrinks
As of 2010, Dr. Phil has become the new Jerry
Springer Show, mocking people in bizarre relationships and insane
situations. No doubt, Dr. Phil and those who support him would claim that
he's sincere; but the fact that they are making TONS of money cannot be
denied. It's all about money.
It is tragic that the American people love
filth, smut, hatred, violence, sexual immorality and every sin imaginable;
that's why Dr. Phil, Hollywood and people like him are getting rich
exploiting people's problems. I think a zoo trainer nowadays has more
qualifications to deal with people's relationship problems than most
psychologists do. People are like wild dangerous animals these days; suing
their own loved ones, killing their own children (before and after birth),
blaspheming the God of the Bible, craving bloodbaths of crimes of TV, and
indulging in every form of wickedness imaginable.
As believers, we need to hand on for dear life
to God's Word. It's like a hurricane of wickedness is afflicting our world
today, and the winds of Satan are blowing, and the crashing thundering and
blinding lightning are everywhere, and debris is flying all around us, homes
are being destroyed, everything uprooted and tossed into the air; yes, this
is a good analogy of the world today, especially the
insane United
States.
The best thing we can do is Christians is grab
onto the firm foundation of God's Word, the Bible; and don't let go! You
don't have to become a victim. The Bible is a Lighthouse, a beacon of hope,
a standard by which to test everything!!! If you'll SEARCH THE
SCRIPTURES as Jesus said in John 5:39,
On his website, Dr. Phil sells all sorts of
worldly helps for your problems. Some of the items sold are titled: Self
Matters CD, Life Strategies CD, Relationship Rescue CD, et cetera. Ladies
and gentleman, when all else fails, read the instructions! God Authored the
Bible to guide us through life. Psalm 119:105 calls the Bible a “LAMP” unto
our feet. A lamp's purpose is to shine upon the darkness, to light the way.
In the absence of Light, darkness prevails. If you want to expose the
darkness, shine the Light. God's Word is the Light, because Jesus is the
Word of God incarnate (John 1:1-3,14; Revelation 19:13).
You don't need Dr. Phil's advice, you need
God's advice. Get you a King James Bible and study it! The most dangerous
thing you can do is to allow other people to think for you. Satan always
looks for weakness! Whether it be alcohol and drugs, or just plain
ignorance, Satan will sift you as wheat (just as Jesus warned Peter in Luke
22:31) if you are weak. You had better get down on your knees and ask God to
help you. God answers knee-mail.
I did not write this article to attack Dr. Phil
in any way; but rather, to warn you that there are many false prophets and
deceivers in the world (2nd John 1:7). The Word of God is THE TRUTH (John
6:63; 17:17). You need THE TRUTH. I can sum up the Bible in one word...
TRUTH! You need THE TRUTH. Turn the hellivision off. Seek out God's advice.
Proverb 3:5-7, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto
thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall
direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart
from evil.” Stop acknowledging Phil McGraw and start acknowledging the
God of the Bible. You don't need Dr. Phil nor Oprah Winfrey to direct your
paths; you need for the Lord Jesus Christ to direct your steps!
I love Jesus Christ! He is my precious Savior,
the Son of God. Christ died, that's history; Christ died for me, that's
salvation! Amen!
A Man of God verses a Man of
Men
I visited a Baptist church recently. The senior
pastor mentioned to the congregation that he had a degree in psychology as
well as theology. Then he spoke praises of Rick Warren's
Purpose Driven Life. Then a few moments later
the pastor quoted something he read from Pat
Robertson (the 700 Club).
Don't give them your money.
I wanted to vomit. I went to a Baptist church
hoping to find a man of God. Instead I found a man of men. The pastor didn't
quote the Bible; he kept quoting things he had read from the latest New York Times
Best Seller List. Modern psychology is rooted in atheism, evolution and
humanism. I don't want to hear a pastor tell me what he learned from other
men. I want to know what God laid upon your heart. What did you learn from
the Scriptures? I can go buy and read a book from Barnes and Noble.
A pastor ought to walk with God throughout the
week, and then share with his people on Sunday what he learned. So many
pastors today are being led into apostasy away from the Scriptures, and away
from the fundamental doctrines of the Biblical faith; because they are being
influenced by Modernist ministers who are corrupt, greedy and
part of the New World Order.
Shame on the congregation or pulpit committee
who calls a man with a Ph.D. (post hole digger... lol) in psychology to be
their pastor. Why don't you just call Dr. Phil
while you're at it? You ought to be appointing a man of God to lead the
congregation. The problem is that none are available anymore. By the way, I
hate pulpit committees who try to control the preacher's preaching. A true
man of God WON'T allow a pulpit committee to tell him what to say or not
say. I'm not for sale! It'll be a cold day in Hell before anyone tells me
what I can preach or not preach! I'll say what God lays upon my heart to
say.
If I took over a pastorate, the first thing I'd
do is get rid of all church committees, especially the pulpit committee.
Temporary committees are ok, like a building committee; but when the
building is completed, goodbye building committee! Committees are dangerous
because they give people power to clip the wings of the preacher, afflict
him and split churches right down the middle. I've seen it too many times.
The Authority of the New
Testament Church is the Bible. If men are in control, then you have a
cult. Jesus said that the greatest amongst you will be your servant. Hence,
the pastor ought to be the biggest servant of the congregation, sacrificial
giving to help his people. In most churches it's the other way around, where
the pastor milks the poor congregation for every penny he can.
Conclusion of the Matter
I don't enjoy
exposing people, I really don't. The big problem is that with all
these false prophets exploiting Christianity to get rich. The Truth of God's
Word is being brushed aside, distorted and forgotten altogether. People will say anything these days to get rich, filthy rich. The
popular trend of our day is to talk about spirituality without the Word of
God, to talk about salvation without being born again, and to offer hope
without Jesus Christ. Dr. Phil is a worldly psychologist, not a born
again Christian.
He tells people to "get real." He is a
modernist who exploits Christianity to fool the masses. Dr. Phil is
just another New Ager, like Oprah Winfrey. Oprah speaks more of the
spiritual aspects of New Age, while Dr. Phil primarily focuses on SELF.
New Age is all about self, about finding your greater you, or as he
calls it, your "authentic you." You don't need to find yourself, you
need to find Jesus Christ, and then you'll know who you really are.
What does the Bible say? Proverb 20:24 states, "Man's goings are of
the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?" Without God,
you'll only find a false religion of demonic spirituality and worldly
philosophies.
The Bible is the answer! Don't be fooled, anyone
who speaks about spirituality without teaching from the Bible is an
imposter. Give God your heart, and He'll comb the kinks out of your
head. If you want to "get real," it all starts with becoming a born
again Christian.
