The Childlike Simplicity Of Salvation

by David J. Stewart | October 2019 | Updated November 2019

2nd Timothy 3:15, “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”

I attentively listened to an excellent MP3 sermon today by Pastor Jack Hyles called: “Yea, Yea, And Nay, Nay.” Salvation is so simple. God had to make the plan of salvation simple, so that uneducated people could be saved. God had to make the plan of salvation simple, so that little children could be saved. God had to make the plan of salvation simple, so that elderly people with Alzheimer disease can be saved. God had to make the plan of salvation simple, so that educably slow people could be saved. God had to make the plan of salvation simple, so that everyone could be saved by childlike faith in the “GOOD NEWS.”

“Everything that's hard and complicated about salvation is God's side of it!” —Pastor Jack Hyles, a precious quote from the MP3 sermon, “Yea, Yea, And Nay, Nay!

Everything that is hard or complicated in salvation is God's part. What about regeneration? That is God's part. What about Christ's incarnation? That is God's part. What about justification? That is God's department. What about sanctification? That is God's part. What about Jesus' vicarious death? That is God's part? What about propitiation? That is God's part? What about imputation? That is God's part. Ironically, Brother Hyles refutes the idea of having 7 steps to salvation, and I remembered that Dr. John MacArthur actually teaches 7 steps to be saved!

“More people will die and burn in Hell, because they're trusting too much!” —Pastor Jack Hyles, a precious quote from the MP3 sermon, “Yea, Yea, And Nay, Nay!

Dr. Hyles loves this next saying and so do I...

“God thought it, Jesus bought it, the preacher taught it, and I caught it!” —Pastor Jack Hyles, a precious quote from the MP3 sermon, “Yea, Yea, And Nay, Nay!

We are saved by simply trusting the wonderful crucified, buried and risen Savior. Salvation is as simple as flipping on a light switch! ...

“Regeneration is what God does in response to your flipping the switch of faith! All you do is trust the Savior—you do nothing more, you do nothing less. Now you've got to know you're a sinner, and you've got to know that sinners are lost, and you've got to know that Jesus died for sinners, and you've got to know that if you trust Him, He'll take you to Heaven when you die; but the minute you know those things and BY FAITH say: 'That's it! And that's what I'm trusting, and I'm merely relying on that to get me to Heaven—then anything more than that is too much, anything less than that is too little, and the Devil likes to come and complicate salvation!” —Pastor Jack Hyles, a precious quote from the MP3 sermon, “Yea, Yea, And Nay, Nay!

There is absolutely NOTHING that you or I can do to merit salvation. God sent His only begotten Son into the world, to die on a sinner's cross to pay for your sins and mine. John 3:14-16, “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

What does John 3:14-16 mean? God's people had sinned. Thousands of them were dying. God told Moses to take some brass and form it into the shape of a serpent (a snake). This symbolized Jesus, the sinless Lamb of God Who became as sin for us (2nd Corinthians 5:21). Jesus voluntarily suffered and died, being crucified on a cross, so that He could make everything right for those who receive Him BY FAITH. Moses held up the brass serpent he had shaped before the people. The Jewish people were instructed to look to the serpent to live! Anyone who LOOKS TO THE MESSIAH is saved! Isaiah 45:22, “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.” Just as Moses lifted up a serpent in the Wilderness, even so has God lifted up His dear only begotten Son, “that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16b).

This is such a wonderful sermon, that I hope you will listen to also. To God be the glory, great things He hath done!

“A man doesn't get better to get saved; he gets saved to get better.

Praise God For His Goodness, Love And Mercy!
(Here's some more photos from my heart...)

ABOVE: Left, helping my daughter with her car at my place. I keep my Christmas lights up all year!

ABOVE: right, me at Burger King with my daughter and her friend. I drink only water!

ABOVE: right, me at Boston Pizza with family. That whole pizza was just for me! Just kidding!

My heart has been very heavy lately. I've been feeling lonely, but it keeps me close to God. My constant toothache-like neck pain since 2004 keeps me humble. By the way, I'm not promoting myself by sharing these photos. I'm like the mystery guy on the internet, so I am just humbly sharing my life with others.

I have about seven churches that I follow online, and thank God for them! Although hurting in my soul, I refuse to become bitter because of some immature professed Christians at Harvest Baptist Church who have banned me from attending church. I love them in the Lord! God is using all this mess to save many people alive spiritually. All I have requested since 2017 is to humbly come back to Harvest to fellowship with a local church, but they are holding a personal grudge against me. Their senior pastor literally used the words: “Go elsewhere.” I would love for nothing more than to make peace with Harvest, but I cannot force them to love and accept me into their fold. I have nowhere else to go! I promised the senior pastor in 2017 that if they allowed me to return to Harvest, I would not be a root of bitterness in their church. I wrote such a long letter to the pastor that he called it “an epistle.”

As much as I loath the modern corrupt Bible versions and the heresy of Lordship Salvation (which Harvest sanctions), the only reason I am willing to go back to Harvest is because they do use the King James Bible primarily (aka, Bob Jones University's position), and the true Gospel is there amidst a mix of false teachings. Some of their staff are saved, and some are not, because of the mixed teachings. It is sad. I was just trying to help them see as a friend, and like John the Baptist I got my head chopped off in 2014 as a result. God knows my heart. I am not a troublemaker. I just know what is truth and what is not. I earnestly desire to find a local church family and a wife, and am praying for God's will concerning leaving Guam to that end, as that seems to be the only solution. The conflict in my soul is a heavy burden daily. I cry often. I never thought my life would end up so lonely, being all by myself, but such is life in these perilous times.

My neck pain plays a major role in all this, and my disability, because I don't want to go anywhere because of my constant pain. It's a burning pain in my neck. It's not easy for me to drive an hour to church, let alone sitting through a church service while my neck feels tense and burning with pain. Sadly, the local independent Baptist church 5 minutes away has banned me from going to church. So what can I do? I've had two major neck surgeries (2009 and 2010), and am as good as I'm going to get the surgeons say, but I praise God that I am not paralyzed. Good is so good! I have no complaints. I love all my web visitors immensely. My pain affects my emotions, and I am expressive and passionate to begin with, which is why I love music so much, and sometimes I say too much I think. Please forgive me everyone!

Finding a church is not like finding a MacDonald's. One of the hardest things I ever did was walking cold-turkey into Harvest in 2014. I felt like a fish out of water at first! I have a 5-year-old grandson on Guam (whom I saw for the first time at Harvest in 2014 just weeks after he was born) and that makes it very difficult to leave island. Harvest Baptist Church will always be a special place to me. I feel like George Bailey (Jimmy Stewart) in “It's A Wonderful Life,” who kept wanting to leave town, but circumstances kept him from leaving. May God's will be done! Proverbs 3:5-7, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.”

Victory Chapel kindly gave me a fancy invitation card to come to their church, while I was walking Saturday at the Chamorro Village, but they are Charismatic, who errantly believe that salvation can be lost, and they speak-in-tongues. Albeit, they are sweet and friendly people. I see the Jehovah's Witnesses diligently propagating their heresy behind Chamorro Village every Wednesday night, and they see my “Jesus” hat each week. I witnessed to a Chuukese family while walking, and told them the precious story of Jesus, and they listened. The man's wife was particularly attentive. I don't pressure people to pray a prayer. I don't like using a sinner's prayer, because that is not taught in the Gospel of John (John 20:31). Requiring someone to pray a prayer to be saved is heresy! What I do is preach the Gospel, and then I ask them the simple question: “According to what I just shared with you, are you a Christian?” In Acts chapter 10, Peter simply preached the Gospel to Cornelius, and as Peter spoke he believed and was immediately saved.

My neck is hurting badly today. Yet, I praise God with all my heart for the health I still have. I can walk and take care of myself, which many people cannot do. I was in a local grocery store last night, and I saw a handful of educably slow children with a Christian lady. It touched my heart seeing them. Exodus 4:11, “And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?” I care about everyone with God's unconditional love, and have no ill feelings toward anyone. The Devil is good for nothing and up to something. The Devil is the enemy, not each other! Satan is wreaking havoc in the churches today with ecumenism. As I grow older, I just want off this insane asylum called earth! I love everyone, whoever you may be. I am just a woeful sinner, saved by God's undeserving grace.

Why Would God Love A Misfit Like Me? (God uses misfits who are like Rudolph the reindeer)

Two Greatest Sins That One Can Commit (We are ALL guilty of committing the greatest sins!)

If you are looking for a big sinner, you found him! If you are looking for a big hypocrite, I'm your guy! The only good thing about me is Jesus in me. The only difference between the most righteousness person in the world, and the worst hellbound sinner on the planet, is the precious blood of Jesus!!! I thank God for the gift of eternal life through faith in His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Me and my 5-year old grandson, Luigi, hanging out!

“Nothing in my future can ever affect the salvation that I have... Once you trust the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, you are eternally secure!” —Pastor Hank Lindstrom (1940-2008), a quote from the classic MP3 sermon titled, “How Permanent Is Your Salvation?

“Salvation is based upon purely what Jesus Christ has done. And if you've trusted Jesus Christ here, you're saved forever! Nothing in your life, nothing in your death, angels, principalities, nothing—nothing in your future—could ever undo that relationship that has been made when you trusted Jesus Christ as Savior. And there are many people who are confused over this whole thing.”
—Pastor Hank Lindstrom (1940-2008), a quote from the classic MP3 sermon titled, “How Permanent Is Your Salvation?

“There are many people who name the name of Jesus Christ, who are not saved, because they're trusting in living the Christian life, or in their works, or in some efforts that they're doing, in order to obtain their salvation.”
—Pastor Hank Lindstrom (1940-2008), a quote from the classic MP3 sermon titled, “How Permanent Is Your Salvation?

Jeremiah 20:11, “But the LORD is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.”

“I can calculate the motion of heavenly bodies, but not the madness of people.” ―Isaac Newton, physicist

“I believe any man in this world, can love any other man in this world, if he thinks right!
The reason you hate is because you think hate. The reason you love is because you think love.”

—Dr. Jack Hyles, a quote from the excellent MP3 sermon, “What The Law Could Not Do” (July 5, 1987 - First Baptist Church of Hammond, PM service).
