Man Says, “I Believe On Jesus, But Have Some
Doubts, And I'm Afraid I May Not Be Saved!”
By David J. Stewart | February 2018
Mark 9:23-24, “Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.”
A dear web visitor and friend recently wrote to me and said that he is afraid of going to Hell. I receive many e-mails from India, where he is from, having the unique Indian name, Sandhu. His English is not too good, as you'll see in his typing, but it is clear that he has a burden. I needed to add some commas in many places in his e-mails, for clarity. But I left his words alone. It is my joy and privilege to help anyone and everyone to find their way along God's path. The gentleman sent me three separate e-mails, so I have posted all three of them here and my responses to these three questions...
QUESTION:
Dear brother David Stewart, please I hope I am not asking too much. if I am then please let me know. I have question. I keep doubting my salvation, and I fear hell a lot. I just want to have a complete assurance that I am saved from it [hell]. When i read your article i noticed that when ever you doubted your salvation, you would sometimes tell God something like this: Lord if i am not saved yet then please save me now if i am then show it to me, so i want to know will God answer a prayer from a person that doubts his salvation and save him in case he was not save if he prays something like this (Lord Jesus i am not sure if i am saved yet i think i am saved but not sure i do not understand the Trinity or i do not know if i should reject evolution or not. I do not know how you hung on the cross, nor i know what you were buried in, i feel like i committed the unforgivable sins, but even if all these questions flooding my mind and i feel like your not hearing me, i will still say this i know you died on the cross and came physically back to life, out dead and grave, to pay for my all of my bad things to save me for ever. Jesus i think i am saved at the same time not sure. Jesus you do not see me as your child yet then please save me forever now amen). Will [God] answer this prayer and save the person in case he was not, if he pray something like this? i hope this not a long question. Please let me know if i am starting to disturb you.
MY BIBLICAL RESPONSE:
Hey Sandhu,
You are welcome to write to me as much as you want Sandhu, I want to help you. We're in this together! I'm here to help you settle the assurance of your salvation, whatever it takes. Just keep asking questions until you get it settled. I haven't doubted my salvation for so many years now that I cannot remember the last time I had any doubts, because I now fully understand what God expects of me to be saved. It is by submitting to God's righteousness, through faith in Christ alone, that saved me. It is important to view salvation as a new birth, and not as a process. A human baby is born in an instant of time. It is not an ongoing process. Likewise, a believer is born spiritually in an instant of time, at one moment, and not over time. Paul Washer is a false prophet, who makes salvation a process. He is not saved! Ray Comfort is not saved either. Neither was Billy Graham. These men all require living a holy life to be saved, which is works!
I also went through a period of doubting my salvation, for 7 miserable years. I was saved at age 13, but because I didn't understand how salvation worked, I was worried constantly. I have written numerous articles on the subject, which I am confident you'll find helpful...https://www.soulwinning.info/fd/praying_to_be_saved.htm
https://www.soulwinning.info/bd/assurance_of_salvation.htm
https://www.soulwinning.info/articles/doubting_salvation.htmI highly encourage you to listen to the following 24-part Bible study series by Pastor Max D. Younce, titled, "So Great Salvation"...
http://www.soulwinning.info/sermons/dr_younce/so_great_salvation.htm
Also, please read this simple Gospel presentation by Dr. Younce, called, "Am I Going To Heaven?" This tract is excellent...
It is important not to trust or go by our "feelings" for salvation, because feelings can mislead us. In the Old Testament, Isaac was deceived because he went by his feelings. He heard Jacob's voice, but he felt Esau's hairy arm. Something was wrong and he knew it, but he went by his feelings instead and was deceived. So we must never go by our feelings. Proverbs 14:12 says there is a way that "seemeth right" unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. I don't know that I am saved because I "feel" it, but because God promised in 1st Corinthians 1:21 to "SAVE THEM THAT BELIEVE." I have God's written promise in the Holy Bible. Jesus loves me this I know "for the Bible tells me so." That is the lyrics to the children's song, "Jesus Loves Me." I am so very glad that God did not leave my hope of salvation subject to mere feelings. I have God's written and unchangeable words. John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
I recently wrote an article about not going by our feelings for salvation...http://www.soulwinning.info/truth/feelings_and_the_new_birth.htm
Regarding living right, we ALL struggle with that. The apostle Paul admittedly did in Romans 7:14-25. Our great God takes the lemons in our life and makes lemonade. God can take our sins, failures and shortcomings and use them for his purpose and glory. Sin always thrills and then it kills. Sin fascinates and then it assassinates. We've all learned that the hard way. Living right is a yoke of wood, unpleasant to bear at times; but indulging in sin brings a yoke of iron that no man can bear. The prisons testify to that truth. A Scripture that I think about often is Proverbs 4:23, "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life." I listen to lots of Bible-preaching, which helps us to think straight. In this time and age, I need all the preaching I can get! And of course, listening to the King James Bible is most important, for which there is no substitute.
Please keep asking questions Sandhu, I want to help you. I remember when I was 17 years old that I went to talk with my pastor. He figured since I didn't know I was saved, it must mean that I wasn't saved, so he led me in a 1-2-3, follow me, prayer and told me I was saved. After that I was still doubtful and didn't know I was saved any more than before I went to my pastor. I was water baptized again. But I was afraid after that to tell anyone that I was still doubtful, lest I be embarrassed or look stupid (so I felt). So I have learned from my own experience to share this with others, and encourage you never to hesitate to admit if you don't have 100% assurance of salvation. Also, please read this article...

Have a good day my friend,
Second Question...
QUESTION:
Dear David J Stewart, please let me know if i am asking to much. I just want to know will God answer a prayer like this from a person who doubts his salvation, and save this person in case he was not saved if the person prays something like this: (Lord Jesus God that became a righteous human male man, that is eternal, i pray to you even if i doubt you are hearing me. i am not sure if i am saved. i keep thinking if i committed an unforgivable sin, and i do not know if i should reject evolution or not, or if i should believe the bible is completely correct or not. I do not know if i how you hung on the cross, and i do not know what you were buried in, and i do not know what city, or place, or where you died. I do not understand nothing and Jesus sometimes i doubt the existence of hell, but i fear hell so much. Jesus i do know that you died on the cross and physically came back to life out of the dead and grave, to pay for my bad things and to save me for ever. Jesus i think i am saved, but if you do not see me as your child, then i will ask you with all these questions lingering in my mind, to save me from hell before die forever to heaven like you promised, no matter what i do or how much i sin, or what sins continue committing in the future amen).
MY BIBLICAL RESPONSE:
Hey Sandhu,
Remember that faith is not the absence of doubt, but the presence of trust. In fact, you cannot have faith without doubt. If there were no doubt then how could there be faith? Faith is not the absence of doubt; but rather, acting upon the belief that we have in spite of the doubt.
To illustrate, let's picture a chair used to replace a light bulb. Faith is not optimism, that is, it is not a positive outlook. Faith is not saying that, “I believe that chair will hold me up.” That is optimism. Faith is getting up on the chair. Even if I have 99% doubt that the chair will hold me up, it is no less than 100% faith if I stand upon the chair with all my weight. The same is true with salvation. It is okay to have doubts. It is okay to doubt if there is a Hell, or a literal Heaven, or if Jesus is the Christ, or if the Bible is really God's Word. All of those doubts are okay to have, JUST SO LONG AS YOU BELIEVE just enough to call upon the name of the Lord. All the faith you need to be saved is “Just Enough.” If you have just enough faith to place your confidence in the Good News of Christ crucified on the cross, buried and bodily resurrected three days later, you are saved!!! What an awesome God.
In the Bible a man had a son who was demon-possessed. The father came to the disciples but they could not heal the boy, because of their lack of faith. So the boy was brought to Jesus, Who told the father that through faith all things were possible. The father said “I believe,” and then he said to Jesus, “help Thou mine unbelief”! The father had doubts. He knew that he didn't have full confidence in the Lord, but he trusted Jesus just enough to ask the Lord to help him with his unbelief (doubts)...Mark 9:23-24, “Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.”
What an amazing passage of Scripture! It is okay to have doubts, just so long as our final decision is to act upon what belief we do have. The father believed in Jesus enough to go to Him for help, and that is all is took for his son to be delivered from his afflictions.
If you have just enough belief to take God at His Word, believing (trusting) the record which God has given us of His only begotten Son in the Scriptures, then God has promised “TO SAVE THEM THAT BELIEVE” (1st Corinthians 1:21). John 6:28-29, “Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.” The only “work” which a man is required or allowed to do to get to Heaven is to BELIEVE ON HIM WHOM GOD HAS SENT.
The Bible is so plain and clear that it is SIMPLE to be saved (2nd Corinthians 11:3-4). God had to make getting saved simple and easy, because there are a lot of base people in the world, who lack intelligence and cannot figure things out too well. So God made it so easy and simple to get saved, that even a small child or an uneducated or retarded person can grasp the simplicity of believing on the name of Jesus to be born-again.
Of course, believing excludes all forms of self-righteous works to be saved. Adding even the smallest amount of human effort cancels faith. This is where most religious people go astray, like the foolish people in Matthew 7:21-23. The Epistle of Galatians exposes Galatianism, that is, the heresy of partial faith in Christ plus works (in their case, circumcision). Paul said this deceived church was “accursed” (Galatians 1:6-9) and "bewitched" and "foolish" (Galatians 3:1-3).
I just had a sincere man write to me and argue that I don't know that Billy Graham went to Hell. I told him that theoretically he is correct, because perhaps Mr. Graham repented on his deathbed after believing a false gospel for 99 years! But that is like saying Judas might have gone to Heaven. I wrote an article about it...http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/Hells_Truth/most_religious_people_go_to_hell.htm
The man who wrote me argued that the Bible says “belief” is all that is required to be saved. Although he is 100% correct, if Mr. Graham was saved, then so must be Roman Catholics, who also claim to “believe.” James 2:19 says the devils also believe, but tremble. But carefully notice the difference. Catholics have partial faith in Christ, plus a lot of faith in the Seven Sacraments. So in reality they aren't trusting Jesus. If I tell you that I trust you to be alone with my ice cream, but then I watch you, or I set up a video camera to monitor you, I am not really trusting you at all. I can say that I have partial trust in you, but it really means that I do not trust you alone with my ice cream. Hebrews 4:10-11 teaches that we are saved by ceasing from our own labors, and instead completely resting in the finished redemptive work of Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 4:10-11, “For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.”
So we see that salvation requires only BELIEVING the Gospel, but nothing else is allowed. If a person adds water baptism, circumcision, living a holy life, full surrender to Christ's Lordship, keeping sacraments, publicly confessing Christ, turning away from sinful behavior (false repentance), or anything else, it is a false gospel which cannot produce the new birth.
Have a good day,
“There
are lots of preachers who don't know Jesus. They know about him, but they
don't know him.”
—Billy Sunday, “Critics and Criticism” (chapter 18), from his biography by
William T. Ellis titled, “Billy Sunday: The Man And His Message.”
Third Question...
QUESTION:
I just have one simple question this may sound kind of the same, but have question about the prayer. i [know] salvation is not by prayer, but can a person who doubts his salvation pray something like this: (Lord Jesus i think i might be saved, but i am not sure i believe you died on the cross and physically rose again, shedding all of your eternal righteous blood to pay for my bad things. I think am saved, but jesus if you do not see me as your child, then please come inside me, make your child, and be my savior now and forever amen). will God answer this prayer from a person [who] doubts his salvation and save him in case he was not saved?
MY BIBLICAL RESPONSE:
Hey Sandhu,
A believer can pray anything they want. I did the same exact thing as you during my youth. I was saved at age 13, but too shy to go to the alter in church, so I trusted Christ in my pew the best I knew how. I feared, like you, for the next 7 years, crying often, worried "what if?" I go to Hell? What if I didn't pray right? What if I am not really saved? And I prayed more times than I can remember something like this:"Lord, I believe I am saved, but I am not sure. If I am not saved, I want to be saved. If I am saved, you owe it to me as your child to show me. Please show me if I am your child, because I don't feel it. I do believe you are the Son of God Jesus, the only Christ. I do believe that you died on the cross for my sins. I do believe that you were buried and resurrected three days later. You did that to pay for my sins. I believe all of that. In fact, I believe it so much Lord, that I would confidently even say, I KNOW IT! I know you are the Christ! I know that I am a sinner and that I deserve to go to Hell and burn forever for my sins. Please, please, Lord, please let me know if I am not saved, because if I'm not, I want to be saved, because I fully trust in you!"
I must have prayed that prayer, or something close to it, fifty times over that miserable 7 year time period in my teenage years. I was so afraid of dying and going to Hell forever. But each time I prayed I felt no better. That lingering worry was still there, "What if?" What if I don't make it to Heaven? What if I burn in Hell forever ever and ever and ever and ever and ever??? I was terrified.
Some foolish person might say it is a sin to doubt what God has said, but that is cruel to say to someone having worries about their salvation, because perhaps the person is not doubting God; but rather, they are doubting their comprehension of what God has said. That was my situation. I never doubted God, I doubted whether I had it right or not. You cannot simply ignore a doctrinal problem to make it go away. The doubts are there for a reason, and that reason is a failure to grasp the clarity of the Gospel.
Now, in hindsight, I fully understand why I went through those horrible times of doubt. It was because I was sincerely naive and ignorant of how salvation works. I had read every Gospel tract I could find, but the problem was—and I didn't realize it until decades later—that all those tracts were really teaching religion and not the Gospel (not accurately). Interestingly, Chick tracts never gave me the impression that I had to turn away from my sins to be saved, although I have received e-mails from other people who said that at one time they had been deceived by Chick tracts, which is why I expose them as corrupt. Where I was misled, is that every single religious tract that I read, concluded by telling me to pray a sinner's prayer to be saved. So I always feared that maybe I left something out of my prayer. What if I missed something? I knew, according to all the tracts that I had read, that I was supposed to be saved, BUT I DID NOT FEEL SAVED, and that is what scared my so much!Think about that! I had already believed, so I was saved from the very first time that I placed my trust in the Lord at age 13. But I kept praying again and again and again and again, asking Jesus to save me several dozen times over a 7 year period, because I was so worried that I wasn't really saved. Oh, what fear I endured. The whole time all I needed was for someone to make the Gospel simple, and leave off all the extra garbage that nearly everyone ADDS to it. The moment that someone adds anything to the Gospel, it is NO LONGER the Gospel! The Gospel is Good News to be believed, not Good News to be lived.
Why I was 17 years old, after much internal struggling with my doubts and fears, I gained the strength to go to my pastor's office to talk with him. That was one of the hardest things I ever did! My pastor, respectfully, made the mistake of concluding that since I didn't know I was saved, I must not be saved. That was so wrong for him to think that way. The worst thing you can do to a person who is not sure they are saved is to lead them to do the SAME THING they have been doing for years, that is, pray another sinner's prayer, which gets them nowhere! So I was led to pray another sinner's prayer. I was then led to be water baptized again in the weeks to follow. I had been water baptized as a child, after my kindergarten teacher led me in a 1-2-3, follow me, SINNER'S PRAYER. Oh boy! I was told that I was saved, but I was as lost as a moose in a caboose! I was as lost as a polar bear on Miami Beach! I was as lost as... you get the idea!
So at age 17, after being led to pray a sinner's prayer in kindergarten, and after praying dozens of sinner's prayers from reading every religious tract I could get my hands on, and now being misled by my well-meaning pastor to pray another sinner's prayer... I was getting nowhere, confused, frustrated, and still afraid that I wasn't really saved, BECAUSE I DIDN'T FEEL SAVED! And in hindsight, the reason why I didn't feel saved is because I had never been properly taught the simple and clear truth of THE GOSPEL. I absolutely love and cherish the following quote from Pastor Ralph "Yankee" Arnold, because it explains exactly "why" I didn't know I was really saved for so many years, because I had never been shown the clarity of the Gospel...“There is power in this Gospel message. Most people just don't know how to present it... The clarity of the Gospel is what makes it easy for them to believe.” —Pastor Yankee Arnold, a quote from the excellent MP3 sermon titled, “WHY GRACE CAN SAVE THE WORST MAN!”
It was HARD for me to believe, because no one ever presented the Gospel in a clear and simple way. Now I KNOW beyond any shadow of a doubt that I was saved at about age 13, because the presence of the Holy Spirit has been in my life from the very moment I remember calling upon the name of Jesus Christ from my soul, silently, from my church pew on a Sunday morning. The pastor (ironically the very one who a few years later didn't help me settle the assurance of my salvation) said in his sermon that day that a person is not saved if they don't have the indwelling Holy Spirit convicting them about sin in their life. I was convicted when I heard that, and for the first time in my life knew that I wasn't saved. I knew that I was a sinner. I had heard in Sunday School all my childhood that a guy named Jesus had died for my sins, been buried and raised up three days later. I vaguely understood these things.
When I was saved, I knew NOTHING about theology. I didn't know that Jesus was God. I had never been taught any of these things, not that I remember. All I knew is that Jesus was the one Who could save me, and I went to Him in my heart, asking Him to forgive my sins and save me, and He did. I know He did because the Holy Spirit has been with me since that very moment. Before that day, there was spiritual darkness in my life. I mean, there was no awareness of God's presence in my life at all. There was no Holy Spirit conviction over the sins in my life. I remember stealing other children's lunch money in the Christian school my parents had enrolled me into. I didn't feel bad one bit. I stole 50 cents here, and 50 cents there. I was a childhood thief. That's all I remember stealing, which I doubt ever amounted to more than $5, but I was a thief nonetheless!
I remember that I used to sass my mother, before I was saved. I never felt bad about it (but I NEVER would do it in front of my father, or else I'd get it!). I never sassed by dad! But when I got saved at age 13, God immediately started convicting me. I remember that still, small, quiet, voice of God in my soul, silently saying, "David, I don't want you talking to your mother like that anymore!" And I didn't. I even remember my mother saying to me one day, "You've changed!" It didn't mean anything to me then, but looking back today, I cherish those precious words, because they are further evidence of the presence of the Holy Spirit in my life, which is the only conclusive biblical evidence that a person is born-again. 1st John 3:24, "And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us."
Many Bible students misunderstand the Epistle of 1st John, thinking that it teaches a person is not saved if they still commit sin. 1st John 3:9, "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God." But carefully notice the last part of the preceding verse... "HE CANNOT SIN, BECAUSE HE IS BORN OF GOD!" Clearly, we all sin. The best Christians still sin. So this verse can only mean that the new man, which is Christ in us, cannot sin. The believers has a new nature in Christ, but the old nature, the flesh, is still there. My own testimony is a good illustration of this truth. Before I was saved, I only had the carnal, fleshly, nature, so I had no conviction over the sin in my life. I couldn't walk in the Spirit, because I didn't know Christ yet and didn't have the blessed indwelling Holy Spirit. But when I got saved, God the Father and His dear Son came to make their abode (home) with me. John 14:23, "Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him." This refers to the indwelling Holy Spirit, which is the Godhood in me (1st Corinthians 3:16-17).
So the believer CAN walk in the Spirit, or they can walk in the old flesh. We have a choice as Christians how to walk. Galatians 5:25 says if we LIVE in the Spirit (i.e., we are saved), then we ought also WALK in the Spirit (i.e., yield to the Spirit of God in obedience to His Word). This is how salvation works. God saves a man and then the Holy Spirit changes him. But these changes are not mandatory for salvation, nor are any of these changes "proof" of being saved. Some of the most morally upright people, with character and a good attitude, are still unsaved. The people in Matthew 7:21-23 did "many wonderful works" in Jesus' name, but were still unsaved. The Lord even called them "workers of iniquity." So a changed life is NOT evidence of salvation, otherwise these folks certainly would have been saved.
Here's a book Sandhu, by Pastor Max D. Younce, which greatly helped me solidify my beliefs on salvation. I hope you will read it completely. The book is titled, "Salvation And The Public Invitation"...http://www.jesusisprecious.org/books/max_younce/salvationandthepublicinvitationweb.pdf
http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/BTP/Dr_Max_Younce/Invitation/toc.htm
In hindsight, the plain reason why I had so many problems with obtaining the assurance of my salvation, is because I had never been given a clear presentation of the Good News of Christ crucified, buried and risen. I had never been told that I could be saved simply by BELIEVING, without praying a prayer. When I first learned many years later that I didn't even have to pray, or walk an isle in a church, or make Jesus the "Lord" of my life, my eyes were immediately opened. It was already saved. It was just like learning about Jesus' deity. I didn't know that Jesus was God until I was first taught that doctrine at age 18 in Bible college. But when I first heard that truth, the Holy Spirit testified in my heart that it was 100% the truth, and I gladly received that doctrine.
The same was true with learning that I didn't have to pray to be saved. I immediately knew in my soul that this was the truth, and my mind cleared up completely, having the final missing piece of the puzzle to solve God's great plan of salvation. That is all I am doing with my online ministry, that is, helping people find the missing pieces to the puzzles in their life, particularly concerning salvation. If you are having doubts about your salvation my friend, it just means you are missing a piece of the puzzle. I am not saying that the Gospel is a puzzle. I am saying that if you have never heard a clear presentation of the Gospel, then it will be a puzzle in your mind, to your understanding.
Once you finally grasp the simple clarity of the Gospel, the puzzle will be complete in your mind, and you will NEVER doubt your salvation again. God knows that I speak the truth, that I cannot remember the last time that I doubts concerning my salvation, and it has been decades. But the final puzzle piece that gave me absolute perfect peace was when I read Dr. Younce's precious book, “Salvation And The Public Invitation.” I had previously read Dr. Curtis Hutson's excellent book titled, "Salvation Crystal Clear," which is awesome. But Dr. Hutson's book didn't impact me the way that Pastor Younce's book did. I cannot thank God enough for Calvary Community Church and their Florida Bible College, of which Dr. Younce is a graduate, founded by Dr. A. Ray Stanford (1916-2012). His successor was Dr. Hank Lindstrom (1940-2008). And now Pastor Ralph "Yankee" Arnold. I love and appreciate these men of God, for doing what so few ministers have done, which is, to present the Gospel with such simplicity and clarity that multitudes are getting saved. ...
Here is one of my favorite MP3 sermons, by Pastor Hank Lindstrom, titled, "How Permanent Is Your Salvation"...http://www.jesusisprecious.org/sermons/audio/hank_lindstrom/how_permanent_is_your_salvation.mp3
And here is a beautiful MP3 sermon by Pastor Ralph "Yankee" Arnold titled, "Easy Believism"...
http://www.jesusisprecious.org/sermons/audio/ralph_yankee_arnold/easy_believism.mp3
As a spiritually hungry teenager, I did read my King James Bible, but I wasn't learned enough yet in the Scriptures to make heads or tails out of it, and so I didn't understand it very well. So I relied on religious tracts to help me know that I was saved, which greatly confused me. Most tracts are garbage! I have grown to hate tracts, because so many theologically incompetent people are writing them. I have written my own Gospel tract Sandhu, which you can print to share with others if you'd like...
I recommend Sandhu that you listen to Pastor Ralph "Yankee" Arnold's sermons online, because he often teaches about the simplicity and clarity of the Gospel. Their church is non-denominational, but so was Jesus. There is no such thing as "the Baptist church." There is only THE CHURCH! Granted, I am glad to be an independent fundamental Baptist in my doctrinal affiliation, to identify myself with a group. But I am perfectly fine with preachers from other denominations, just so long as they are preaching the truth of God's Word. One of my favorite preachers is Pastor J. Vernon McGee (1904-1988), who was a Presbyterian, as was Evangelist Billy Sunday (1862-1935). Dr. Arnold is on Bibleline Radio during weekdays, preaching the truth, and I am grateful for his teachings. I rarely miss one of his sermons...
http://www.biblelineministries.org/av/audioarchive/listall.php
Here's a helpful article that I wrote titled, "The Gospel Is Obscured When Presented Wrong"...
http://www.jesusisprecious.org/false_doctrine/gospel_obscured.htm
I used to be afraid of the dark, because I was afraid of what might be in the dark. It wasn't the darkness that scared me. It wasn't my ignorance of God's plan of salvation that scared me, but going to Hell and missing out on spending eternity in Heaven. Who would want to risk missing Heaven and end up rotting in a burning hell forever? Of course that terrified me! I was afraid of Hell and missing Heaven. But my ignorance of the truth is what caused my fear. So just as I was afraid of walking into a dark room late at night, when it was pitch black, so also was I afraid of the uncertainty of not knowing that I was saved. That is a horrible feeling to have! I know that inexplicable pain of soul, for years!
I remember that my pastor's wife, even after going through years of Bible college by her husband's side, and attending church all those years, and even after her husband pastored our church for several years, she one day realized that she wasn't saved. I remember when she got saved, and we were all amazed. You never know who is saved or not. Even a pastor's wife might not be saved. And bless her heart, she just didn't know. Like so many people, she just followed her loved one's, going along to get along, but she had never been born-again herself. Praise God that she finally did get saved. There is no shame in getting saved after being in church one's whole life. None at all.
I want to help you as much as I can Sandhu to settle the assurance of salvation, so here is another helpful MP3 sermon. This one is by Dr. Jack Hyles (1926-2001) called, "He That Believeth Is Not Condemned"...http://www.jesusisprecious.org/sermons/audio/jack_hyles/HeThatBelievethIsNotCondemned1995.mp3
A great quote from the preceding sermon by Brother Hyles is: "It is not the quantity of the faith that saves me, it is the reality of the faith that saves me!" If you place your confidence in what Christ did through the cross to pay for your sins, believing that He was buried and physically raised up from the dead, you are saved!!!
I know this is a lot of information, but since you have asked many questions and I see that you are struggling to understand it, I want to help you with plenty of truth to feed your hungry soul my friend. Please keep asking questions if you have any, that is why I am here, to feed God's sheep with truth and help others in the Lord.
Kindest regards,
I thank God for all the truth which He has shown me. Genesis 32:10, “I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands.” Most people have never heard the truth of the Gospel, and most of the people who have reject it because it is so simple. This is why Jesus warned in Matthew 7:13-14, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” That narrow gate is the Gospel, that is, the Good News of Jesus Christ!

issue!”
