“Christian” Psychology Is Deadly

“And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the LORD, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.” —Job 28:28

Secular psychology doesn't have anything in common with Jesus Christ. In fact, psychology is the antithesis of the eternal Word of God. Webster's defines psychology as:

psy-chol-o-gy n. 1. a) the science dealing with the mind and with mental and emotional processes.

In fact, did you know that modern psychology is based upon demonic astrology? Listen to what the astrologers have to say for yourself...

Astrology is not a religion or a faith. The modern science of Psychology, which is the realm in which many contemporary people explore their sprits, was born of Astrology.

Biblically, psychology is the study of the soul, and the Bible is our text book. When all else fails, read the instructions! Amen! In sharp contrast, secular psychology is rooted in humanism, evolution, atheism and other isms and schisms. Sigmund Freud (fraud) was an unsaved heathen who is considered by most people to be the father of modern-day psychology and psychiatry. The major problem with secular psychology is it's blatant rejection of the Word of God as an authority. Secular psychology text books don't even recognize the concept of sin when dealing with the complexities of the human soul and spirit.

The Word of God teaches in Hebrews 4:12-13, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.” What a precious Scripture passage. The Bible is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the human heart, piercing even between the soul and spirit.

Hebrews 4:12-13 And The Human Soul

By the way, Hebrews 4:12 is Biblical proof that the soul and spirit are separate. Man's spirit is who he is, the seat of human conscience. Our soul is three things: a mind to think, a heart to feel and a will to decide. Animals have souls, but not a spirit as humans do. Only the Word of God can cut down to the asunder of soul and spirit. The Bible literally dissects the human soul and spirit. I believe that God is telling us that our mind and heart can deceive us (Jeremiah 17:9), but God's Holy Spirit speaks to our spirit as we search the Scriptures (John 5:39) and shows us the truth (James 1:22-24). This is why we need to read the Bible daily, which is seldom done by most Christians. Our sinful flesh doesn't like to read the Holy Bible.

You'll never hear a psychologist tell you that you ought to abide in the Holy Bible to help you solve your mental issues. Yet, as you just read in Hebrews 4:12, God's Word can sort out fact and fiction between our soul and spirit. This is why Hollywood movies continually include themes of adultery, incest, violence, taking the Lord's name in vain, blasphemy and the occult. Those ungodly men, whose king is Satan, want you to do those sins. By cleverly and subtly including such wicked themes in Hollywood movies, seeds are planted in the viewer's mind and heart. In sharp contrast, as we read the Holy Bible, God's Spirit exposes the filth in our soul, the wrong attitudes and sinful ideas, and convicts us about sin (Romans 7:13 - all quotes from trustworthy King James Bible).

Having said that, it should now be clear to you why it is dangerous to seek guidance from secular psychologists. They are trained in heathen universities by Godless nutty professors who reject Jesus Christ and deny the Word of God.  Psalm 1:1 states, "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful."  Christians should not seek counsel from the unsaved world. If you do seek their help, you'll be receiving counsel from heathens who practice astrology, see no harm in abortion, participate in homosexual parades and curse the name of God.

Please understand that I do believe there are some rare situations of human illness which require a psychiatrist, for prescription medications. I heard Dr. Jack Hyles (1926-2001) say that in a sermon. Brother Hyles counseled tens-of-thousands of people in his 55-years of pastorship. Some people do need psychiatric help due to health-related mental problems or insanity, and that's not a sin; but no Christian ought to go see a shrink because they're depressed, confused or unhappy. Fifty years ago they'd shove an ice-pick in your brain through your eye and cause brain damage. That was their most effective treatment for insanity, and it helped many people calm down. I wouldn't have believed it unless I saw it in a documentary titled, The Lobotomist (this is a clip from the full BBC documentary). This was before modern prescription drugs.

Psychologists can be helpful to help a person suffering in constant physical pain to learn how to cope with their pain. This is a legitimate reason to seek help from a psychologist. However, a Christian who is having marriage problems ought to seek help from a local pastor in a New Testament Church. If you are not saved, then you probably won't listen to the preacher anyway, so you're on your own. Psychologists attempt to remedy man's SIN man's way! We're in insanity in the world because of sin! When the Christian believer has problems, they ought to go to Church, the household of God. You need Christian fellowship and preaching to stay right with God.

Many people slowly get out of church, and then their life starts falling apart over time. By the time everything is all messed-up, it becomes clear in hindsight what happened. Proverbs 14:14 says that the backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways. Without regular preaching, Christian fellowship, staying in contact with the family of God, you are going to go astray and have spiritual problems. This is why the Bible tells us not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together (Hebrews 10:25). Pride is the culprit. The middle letter of the words PR-I-DE and S-I-N is the letter “i.” Most Christians have “i” problems (me, myself and I)!

"Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of GOD, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting ALL your care upon him; for he careth for you" (1st Peter 5:6-7).
"COME UNTO ME, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, AND I WILL GIVE YOU REST. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light" -JESUS CHRIST, Matthew 11:28.

We should go to the Lord as He asked us to, i.e., to the Word of God (John 1:1,14). Philippians 2:5 reads, "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus." The Bible doesn't tell us to have the mind of Dr. Phil, or of Oprah Winfrey, or of James Dobson, or of James Van Praagh; but rather, of the Lord Jesus Christ!

What about when you need some Christian advice? Can't God speak through His people? Insofar as they speak forth the Word of God, the Bible! God works through His word--NEVER with man's secular wisdom (which is what psychology is devilish). What is in man anyway? ...lust, murder, deceit, covetousness, et cetera Why trust man's way of contending with sin? No amount of rehabilitation, education, or reformation can tame the old sin-nature, it is an unruly evil. It simply can't work. The Bible tells us that we need to talk to our pastor or other fellow believers when we have a problem:

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:1-2)

Going outside of God's word to psychology is sin. Look at Freaky Freud and his freaky ideas about incest. When you look at the authors of psychology, you find a bunch of freaks trying to tell us why we sin and how to manage it. I'll tell you why you sin and I'll save you a boatload of money... you sin because--YOU WERE BORN WITH IT! There is only ONE remedy for the sin-sick soul--THE BLOOD OF JESUS! Go read about the blood in 1st Peter 1:18,19. "Christian" psychologists are making money as they fleece the sheep of the Lord's pasture. Psalm 1:1 forbids seeking counsel from the unsaved... "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful."

Hopefully this article will help you to avoid the trappings of the psychotherapy cesspool that has entered our churches in the name of self-help groups, recovery groups, and 12 steppers.

We don't need advice outside of the Bible. Period. God has given us EVERYTHING that pertaineth to life (2nd Peter 1:3). To combine Biblical truth with secular psychology is to create PSYCHOHERESY!
