Lutheran Mary Worship!
By David J. Stewart
Though not to the idolatrous extent that the Catholics idolize Mary, the Lutherans follow in the same spiritually adulterous steps of The Great Whore, Roman Catholicism. The photo at the right is one depiction of the Lutheran Mary. Though the Halo around Mary's head is missing, it is still disconcerting and unbiblical for anyone to recognize her at all. Mary is no more to be praised than any other godly mother.
In a poem titled “Swept Up In Joy” by David Miller, a Lutheran Minister, he says the following:
I tried to pray through my distress as the choir sang of Mary: "Hail favored one, the Lord is with thee." But my thoughts connected only with my anxiety.
“Hail favored one?” Pardon me, but where in the Bible are we ever commanded to recognize Mary at all? Jesus never even hinted for anyone to praise Mary. This is a MANMADE TRADITION, and it came out of the Great Whore of Catholicism. Just as Catholics deny that they worship Mary (which they obviously do), so do the Lutherans deny that they worship Mary.
Lutherans Sinfully Recognize Mary as a Heavenly Intercessor
Barbara Owen, a member of Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, Annapolis, Md., is the editor of Daily Readings from Luther's Writings, Augsburg Fortress. The following quotes are from her article “Luther On Mary”:
The Scriptures always point to Christ as the one who saves. Luther characteristically said: "Oh, how many kisses we bestowed on Mary! But she did not redeem and save me."
But Luther also honored Mary and her "unique place in all of [humankind]." He insisted "the festivals of the Purification and Annunciation of Mary may be continued, and for the time being her Assumption and Nativity." He could even imagine her as a heavenly intercessor.
The first couple of sentences are ok (and this is all that MOST people see when they look at Lutheranism), but take a look at the sentences which follow. This is shocking! Martin Luther said that he could even imagine Mary as a “heavenly intercessor.” Folks, that's devilish doctrine! In one breath Martin Luther admits that Mary CANNOT redeem anyone, and in the next breath he speaks blasphemy against God.
“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” —1st Timothy 2:5
Mary is NOT an intercessor and you had better get that straight because Martin Luther was a doctrinal mess. Here is a whole bunch of demon doctrine from Martin Luther (the source is from the same article above, Luther On Mary):
Luther noted Mary's humility: "So the wondrous pure spirit of Mary is worthy of even greater praise, because having such overwhelming honors heaped upon her head, she does not let them tempt her [to pride]. ... [In] truth she thrusts [pride and honor] from her and would have us honor God in her and come through her to a good confidence in His grace."
Mary is a model for us and a comfort. Luther wrote: "O Blessed Virgin, Mother of God, what great comfort God has shown us in you, by so graciously regarding your unworthiness and low estate. This encourages us to believe that henceforth He will not despise us poor and lowly ones, but graciously regard us also, according to your example."
Mary isn't "a goddess who could grant gifts or render aid, as some suppose when they pray and flee to her rather than to God," Luther wrote. "She does nothing, God does all. We ought to call upon her, that for her sake God may grant and do what we request." Luther biographer, Martin Brecht, describes Luther's thoughts: Mary is "the model for believers, and, above all, the example of God's action. It is God's grace that we are to admire in Mary, nothing else."
Through faith, Luther wrote, a person "may boast of such treasure as that Mary is his real mother, Christ his brother, and God his father.... By this token you sit assuredly in the Virgin Mary's lap and are her dear child."
Millions of Catholics sinfully believe that Mary is even a “co-redeemer” with Christ. Of course, that is a lie of the Devil. Jesus is the ONLY Redeemer.
Though the Lutherans deny this heresy, they are woefully guilty of creating their own heresy by praying to Mary. Did you read what Luther said above? ...
“We ought to call upon her, that for her sake God may grant and do what we request.”
Blasphemy! Show me that in the Word of God! I triple-dog dare you to show me one verse in the Bible that says we should pray, admire, praise, or try to contact Jesus' mother in ANY way. You CANNOT! Show me where the Bible teaches that we should expect God to answer our prayers for Mary's sake. The Lutheran church is NO church, but a bastard child of the Mother of Harlots, Roman Catholicism.
Luther prayed, “O Blessed Virgin, Mother of God, what great comfort God has shown us in you...” Like I said, Catholicism never came out of Martin Luther. Even more sickening is Luther's comment above...
“a person may boast of such treasure as that Mary is his real mother, Christ his brother, and God his father.”
Whoa! Martin Luther is guilty of the same sin that Roman Catholics are guilty of... ELEVATING MARY! Martin Luther speaks out of both sides of his mouth—He tells us that Mary does nothing, yet he says we should praise her greatly. But what does the Bible say...
“I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.” —Isaiah 42:8
If Martin Luther were alive today, he would be another ecumenical heretic like Billy Graham, following Rome from afar off; and not following Christ at all.
Lutherans Sinfully Teach that Jesus Needed Mary's Permission to Become Incarnate
Read the shocking heresy found at http://orthodoxlutheran.fws1.com/bvm/books.html...
In 1996, Pope John Paul II concluded that the title 'Mother of God' "proclaims the nobility of woman and her very high vocation. God, in effect, treats Mary as a free and responsible person and does not fulfill the Incarnation of his Son until after he has obtained her consent." Lutherans fully agree with this understanding of Mary.
Are you getting this? Lutherans believe that God could not come to the earth incarnate without Mary's PERMISSION. If you'll read the Bible, you'll quickly learn that Mary was ALREADY pregnant before she or Joseph even knew what was going on. God did NOT need or ask for Mary's permission.
Lutherans are basically unofficial Catholics. They read out of the Apocrypha like the Catholics. They recognize Catholic saints, holidays and festivals. They baptize infants like the Catholics. They even believe in the damnable doctrines of the Immaculate Conception of Mary and The Assumption of Mary.
The May 1997 issue of New Covenant magazine (a Charismatic Roman Catholic publication) contains an article by Lutheran minister, Charles Dickson, titled, Mary: Bridge to Christian Unity. Mr. Dickson states...
"What Protestants have had difficulty understanding are the intentions of Catholic teachings about Mary. In the Immaculate Conception and the Assumption teachings it has not been the intention of the Catholic Church to elevate the Blessed Virgin Mary to deity status, but rather to show her as the shining model of genuine Christian hope. It is the hope for all humankind. Such a rereading and enlightened understanding on the part of the Protestant community will help to refocus the attention of the entire Christian world on Mary, not as a point of division, but as the real bridge to unity for us all" (Charles Dickson, "Mary: Bridge to Christian Unity," New Covenant, May 1997, pp. 6,8).
Mary worship is a bridge to Hell, not Christian unity. The Biblical doctrine of Christian unity amongst God-fearing, Bible-believing Christians has been used by the Devil in these Last Days to sinfully unite believers with unbelievers, which is strictly forbidden in the Bible (2nd Corinthians 6:14-17).
Mr. Dickson further states...
"The agony that a mother experiences when her children are squabbling and fighting among themselves may be a fair analogy to describe the agony the Blessed Virgin Mary must experience amidst the quarrels dividing the disciples of her Son. In view of this it is not surprising that the bishop of Osnabruck in Germany has suggested that Mary be regarded as the 'patroness' of ecumenism, the rallying point where Christians of all varieties may find unity, common goals and mutual love."
"As Lutheran theologian Harding Meyer recently observed, 'Luther, Malancthon and Zwingli not only did not question teachings about Mary, they explicitly adopted them.' These teachings included the virgin birth, the doctrine of the Theotokos (Mother of God), the semper virgo (ever-virgin) of the Fifth Ecumenical Council, and the sanctification of Mary as advocated by St. Bernard, St. Thomas Aquinas and others."
"The job for both Catholics and Protestants in our day, then, becomes one of healing. We need to search diligently for ways of unburdening the Mariological problem that has so splintered our efforts at unity. ... In all these efforts, the Blessed Mother of Our Lord waits with open arms for her children to cease their quarrels and become a family again. She is truly the bridge to Christian unity.
"The starting point for building such unity is the recognition by all that Jesus is our Savior and Lord. Mary, by God's decree, is always a part of that relationship."
This is all blasphemy against the Word of God! Christians are commanded to separate from unbelievers in 2nd Corinthians 6:14,17... “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers... Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord...” Protestants, if genuine Christians, are forbidden to yoke together with the Hellish whore of Catholicism.
Sadly, many Protestant organizations, such as the Lutherans, are NOT Christians at all. Few people today care to realize that Martin Luther still remained in the Catholic Church two additional years after his alleged conversion to Bible Christianity. Martin Luther's 95 Thesis were mostly criticisms against the policies of the Catholic Church. Martin Luther was a Mary Worshipper, even after his alleged conversion. Luther taught Baptismal Regeneration, which few Bible-believing Christians today know or dare to admit.
Moreover, Christians need to get out of the man-worshipping business and only follow Christ. It is sickening to see so many religious people today clamoring to John Calvin, Jacob Arminius, Martin Luther, and hundreds of other imperfect, doctrinally flawed men who lived centuries ago. Why not just follow the Words of God? Truly, humanity worships their own. Who cares what John Calvin believed. Who cares what martin Luther taught. Let's just obey the Bible ourselves without looking to other men to tell us what God really means. Religion is nothing more than man's opinion, which is exactly what the word “heresy” means, “an opinion.”
The Scriptures do NOT call us to “unite” with those who disobey, corrupt, and blaspheme the Word of God! It is much better to be DIVIDED over truth, than to be UNITED by error! The Devil's crowd says, “Let us lay aside our doctrinal and moral differences and unite”; BUT, God's Word says, “...come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord...”
The Bible doesn't elevate Mary to any degree. Lutherans, as Catholics, have bought into the Satanic pagan religion of the Queen of Heaven (Jeremiah 7:18). To recognize Mary in any capacity is a woeful sin. Isaiah 42:8 clearly states that God will NOT share His glory with another, nor His praise with graven images (i.e., statues of the Blessed Virgin Mary). Thus, do not commit the sin of praising Mary, for she was born, lived, and died a sinner saved by God's grace; just as I. I hope the same will be said of you my friend. Life is short. Please don't leave this world without Jesus as your Savior.
“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.” —1st Timothy 4:1
