Andrew Wommack EXPOSED!

It's a shame that Satan has crept into the church today, subtilty introducing damnable heresies. Andrew Wommack offers many Biblically sound teachings; however, if a man is wrong on salvation, then he is wrong on the biggest issue. There is NO Biblical doctrine more important than salvation itself. We are warned in 2nd Corinthians 11:3... “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.”

In typical fashion of today's wayward prophets, Wommack states that he believes salvation is 100% by God's grace apart from all self-righteous works; BUT, then he teaches works salvation elsewhere. This is deceitful and many ministers are doing this today, such as Jack Chick, John MacArthur and Ray Comfort. Jesus said what He meant and meant what He said (John 14:2). I'm tired of deceitful ministers saying salvation is by God's grace; BUT then require a willingness to turn from sin, make a commitment or change their actions as part of saving faith. No Sir, salvation is a free gift and does NOT require any change, nor a willingness to change, on the part of a sinner to receive it.

Wommack's False Gospel Of Lordship Salvation

The Lordship Salvation heresy is the false doctrine of WORKS SALVATION!!! The King James Bible states in Romans 10:9, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Concerning Romans 10:9, Mr. Wommack writes...

“Therefore, this verse is a promise to those who believe on Jesus to the extent that they are willing to change their actions accordingly and confess Him as Lord (God) with their mouths so that they might be saved.”

That is a false gospel. If lost sinners must be “willing to change their actions accordingly” to be saved, then that is a works-based salvation. As with other false prophets, Wommack makes the grave mistake of putting-the-cart-before-the-horse. The willingness to change is a FRUIT (or result) of genuine repentance; and not a part of saving-faith. Wommack correctly recognizes “repentance” in his commentary from Matthew 3:2 as “a change of mind.” However, he then perverts the definition of Biblical repentance by adding SELF-RIGHTEOUS WORKS to it...

“Repentance is simply a change of mind accompanied by corresponding actions.” (Matthew 3:8; James 2:17)

Mark 1:15, “And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”

In the original Greek text, the word REPENT in Mark 1:15 is metanoeo, which literally means “to change one's mind.” Wommack  perverts the Biblical meaning of repentance by adding that a person's CHANGE OF MIND must be, “ACCOMPANIED BY CORRESPONDING ACTIONS.” That's satanic teaching of devils. Dr. Wommack has subtly ADDED self-righteous works to faith in Christ, which is no faith at all. The Bible simply requires A CHANGE OF MIND (REPENT). THERE ARE NO CORRESPONDING ACTIONS. The demonic Seventh Day Adventist religious cult has a similar perverted understanding of what faith means, claiming that it embodies every obligation which God places upon believers. That's false religion!

The object of repentance in Mark 1:15 is believing the gospel, not departing from sinful bad habits. We are saved by putting our faith in the gospel (good news) of Jesus Christ Who DIED, was BURIED and ROSE UP three days later according to the Scriptures (1st Corinthians 15:1-4). Amen! Thank you Jesus, my Redeemer and God!!!

My friends, Biblical salvation costs you and I NOTHING. Jesus paid FOR OUR SINS with His precious blood (1st Peter 1:18-19). Salvation cost God everything, Who gave us His only begotten Son to bleed, suffer and die for our sins. Anyone who says that it costs you the world to be saved is teaching a false plan of salvation. Jesus didn't tell us to forsake the sinful world to be saved; but rather, he saved us so we wouldn't want to live in the world anymore. We don't cease from committing sin to get saved; but rather, we cease from sin because WE ARE SAVED. If we remain in sin, then God will chastise and scourge us as His children (Hebrews 12:6-8). Any professed Christian who can live in unrepentant sin without Holy Spirit conviction is not saved (1st John 1:8-10; Romans 8:9; 1st John 3:8-10). A Christian living in sin is miserable, as was Lot, whose righteous soul vexed him because of the unlawful deeds of the ungodly (2nd Peter 2:7-8).

Being born-again means having He (Who is the beginning) born in us!!! Jesus is the NEW MAN in every believer. 2nd Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

Wommack is incorrect. Repentance unto salvation does NOT need to be "accompanied by corresponding actions." Wommack wrongly defines repentance as including "actions." What actions are Wommack vaguely referring to? Clearly, he is implying that a person must depart from their sinful living. Wommack's commentary on Romans 10:9 states that a person must "change their actions" to be saved. Again, he states...

"Therefore, this verse is a promise to those who believe on Jesus to the extent that they are willing to change their actions accordingly and confess Him as Lord (God) with their mouths so that they might be saved."

If Wommack were correct, which he is not, then a lost sinner could not be saved unless he or she were willing to stop committing sin. This is known as the heresy of LORDSHIP SALVATION, and it's of the Devil. Wommack plainly states that believing on Jesus Christ is NOT enough for salvation, unless it is a belief that includes "changing" one's "actions." This violates the plain teaching of Romans 4:5, "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." Biblically, a person DOESN'T have to change a thing to be saved. God does the changing. That's why He saves us, so He can cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1st John 1:9). Again, carefully notice that Wommack requires a sinner to be "willing to change" as a prerequisite to salvation. A willingness to change is the result of true repentance; and not a part of saving faith. Salvation is without works and a man's faith is COUNTED for righteousness. This is the simplicity that is in Christ.

Every heretic who teaches Lordship Salvation deceitfully claims to believe that salvation is 100% by God's grace; but they do not. If they truly believed that God's salvation is unconditionally offered to mankind on the basis of Christ's blood sacrifice alone, then they'd stop teaching that sinners must be "willing to change" their life and stop living in sin to be saved. The Biblical truth is that sinners don't have to "change their actions" to be saved. Wommack is teaching a false gospel which requires human effort in order to be saved. Salvation is of the Lord.

Wommack's Corrupt Theology

On June 30, 2013 I heard Televangelist Andrew Wommack on the notorious Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) say that there is no more old spirit when Christ comes into the believer's body at salvation. That is not true! The old man is still there, and he's not leaving until our earthly death separates our soul and spirit from our fleshly body forever. Ecclesiastes 12:7 says that our spirit returns unto God Who gave it. Hebrews 9:23 says that all humanity has an appointment with death... “AND THEN THE JUDGMENT!”

The words “believe” and “believed” are found 85 times throughout THE GOSPEL OF JOHN; yet you'll never find the word “repent” mentioned even once. Obviously one who has believed has also repented. John 20:31, “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.” If you believe the gospel, receiving Christ's death, burial and resurrection as full-payment for your sins, then you have eternal life. It's that simple. Water baptism is for believers as a first step of obedience, and NOT a requirement to be saved or seal your salvation. The thief on the cross got saved and was NEVER water baptized. No one in the Old Testament was ever water baptized, but the saints still went to Heaven. RUN AWAY as fast as you can from anyone who says you have to be water baptized to be saved. That means run away from Church of Christ denominations, Lutherans, Mormons, Roman Catholics and Seventh Day Adventists.

Every believer has two natures dwelling within them:

  1. The old sinful nature, the flesh, the earthly, carnal man (Romans 7:15-25)
  2. The Holy Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ, God in us (Romans 8:9; 1st Corinthians 3:16-17).

Conclusion

Although some people will no doubt allege that it's merely a matter of semantics, I can only go by the statements a man makes concerning salvation. Andrew Wommack plainly writes in his commentary regarding Romans 10:9 that a sinner must believe on the Lord “TO THE EXTENT THAT THEY ARE WILLING TO CHANGE THEIR ACTIONS.” That is a false gospel. What if a person isn't willing to make any changes to their sinful lifestyle? What if they're not ready to stop shacking-up in fornication with their divorced girlfriend, getting drunk, smoking pot, lusting, cursing, and watching filthy movies? Does a person have to stop committing those sins to be saved? Ray Comfort says, YES. John MacArthur says, YES. Andrew Wommack says, YES. But the Bible and Jesus say, NO!!! Titus 3:5, “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.”

Any amount of belief (i.e., trust) upon the Lord Jesus Christ as the Savior is enough to be saved. Childlike faith is all that God's asks. God does NOT require a certain degree of faith to be saved, just enough to call upon the name of the Lord (Romans 10:13). Wommack's false gospel invalidates the faith of those who are not willing to change their actions. This is nothing less than the damnable heresy of Lordship Salvation.

It's not what you're doing that gets you into Heaven; but rather, it's where you're looking... LOOK TO JESUS!!

Isaiah 45:22, “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.”
