Pedal Steel Guitar From My Heart
By David J. Stewart | updated January 2013
I recorded the following songs in 2012 on my pedal steel guitar for my web visitors. I hope you enjoy them. Please understand that I did not perform on the original recordings, nor have any of these recordings been sanctioned by the original singers and musicians. I just recorded these to share my heart with others. I recently remixed all the songs in stereo. The first song is I Have Been Blessed by The Far City Boys...
I Have Been Blessed (128 KBPS)
Here's the original song without a pedal steel guitar.
The next heart-touching song is titled, If You Only Knew by The Rochesters...
Here's the original song.
I recorded the following songs in April of 2012. The song is by The Primitive Quartet and is called, Please Go With Us To Heaven...
Please Go With Us To Heaven (128 kbps)
Please Go With Us To Heaven (320 kbps)
Please Go With Us To Heaven (louder steel guitar - 128 kbps)
Here's the original song.
Here's some more songs that I recorded this year. The first is I Just Want To Thank You Lord by The Rochesters...
Here's the original song.
Also, here's a beautiful version of the song that I wanted to record with, but when the guy starts singing (what a great voice God gave him) a women falls apart emotionally and you can hear her losing it. No Christian woman should scream like that in church. That's not the “meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price” (1st Peter 3:4). The demonic Charismatic movement teaches women to be boisterous, loud and to scream like that. Albeit, she comes closer to being right than those who never get excited over the truth.
And here's the second song, also by The Rochesters, called Brighter Day...
Here's the original song.
Here's a very nice song by The Marshall Family (*Note: I'm just playing along on my own, I didn't record on the original recording). The song is called, Then Came Jesus. I added a pedal steel guitar from my heart to the song today. The songs are at a bit rate of 128, which is nice digital quality. I hope you like them. I made these for all my web visitors...
Here's the original in a YouTube video.
Here's the same recording, but with a LOWER steel guitar volume. I like a louder steel guitar myself, but that's because the Lord gave me the desire to play the steel guitar...
Here's a nice song that I recently recorded in March of 2012. It shows how a pedal steel guitar can be used in different songs. It certainly is a versatile instrument, great for accompaniment or soloing as an instrumental...
REMIND ME DEAR LORD - LOUDER GUITAR (128 kbps)
REMIND ME DEAR LORD - LOUDER GUITAR (320kbps)
REMIND ME DEAR LORD (LOWER VOLUME ON STEEL GUITAR - 128 kbps)
Here's a song that I recorded in December of 2011...
I usually save songs in two different MP3 sizes (64 kbps is FM radio quality. 128 is digital quality. 320 is the best quality MP3). The 128 kbps files are only about 3 MB verses 9 MB, which is why I give my visitors a choice of files to download. I always choose 320 kbps. I've noticed that when burning 128 kbps to a CD, it causes more problems (skipping disks) than 128 kbps files do. You won't hear a difference between 128 or 320 kbps, but I made both in case you want the higher quality 320kbps.
I hope you like these songs. They're all from my heart. Lord willing, I have projects I would like to do, if my health holds up. Most of the time lately I just don't feel like playing because of my peripheral neuropathy and neck pain. The meds sedate me. I do thank the Lord that I can still play music. Some people don't have that option anymore. I made these songs for all web visitors and friends online. Please keep me in your prayers.
How I Recorded These Songs
I'm playing through the “Record Out” of a battery-powered $125 Roland MicroCube amp. I use the power adaptor at home, which is where I recorded this song. I used a $40 Lexicon (Alpha model) interface to record directly onto my computer using $75 MixCraft software. Who needs an expensive studio? I'm using a BOSS DD-3 delay and some reverb on the MicroCube.
On the song, Please Go With Us To Heaven, I put an Audio-Technica microphone in front of my 40-year old Peavey Session 400 amp and recorded the steel guitar live. It has a 15" JBL speaker. You are hearing exactly what came out of the amp. You probably couldn't tell the difference between the two recording techniques (that is, recording directly into the MicroCube versus miking the Session 400 amp). I like using both. I can record with the MicroCube at 2 A.M. and not wake anybody up, since the sound goes directly into the computer. The main difference is that on live recording, I'm recording air vibrations coming from the amplifier's speaker; whereas with the MicroCube I'm going directly into the computer and there is no air transfer (actual sound being recorded). Technology is so good these days that you can't hardly tell the difference. It's pretty incredible how all this stuff works. Isn't God amazing!!!
Philippians 2:13, “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” That is why this website is here, i.e., because God has done a work in my heart to will and to do of His good pleasure. Amen and amen!
I ask for your earnest prayers for this ministry and me daily. This ministry is much bigger than me, it's about the Lord Jesus Christ, Who is THE WAY, THE TRUTH, and THE LIFE (John 14:6)! HEAR YE HIM!
“Even so, come, Lord Jesus” (Revelation 22:20).
I love you all in the Lord, whoever you may be!
