The National Education Association

The NEA is a major controlling force behind what happens in the public schools, and is about the largest professional lobby in the United States. It is the "teacher's union" and to be a teacher in any public school you must belong to the organization, and basically accept and follow their views. It has completely adopted the "modern scientific psychological approach" to Man, along with humanist views of socialism where the individual must adapt to the needs of society. The NEA allied with modern psychology and psychiatry very early in it's development as the very powerful teacher's union. Teachers must conform to their dictates to get or retain "official licensing".

The actions of the NEA have much to do with modern public education adopting the views and methods of behavioral psychology and psychiatry. This group has a very specific "political" agenda. Find out how this organization was established, what views it promotes, and how it came to be so powerful.

The Biggest Lobby in Washington - By 1952, behavioral psychology had not only become the scientific foundation of American pedagogy, but it had changed our textbooks, revised the classroom curriculum, and redesigned the American school building. If you detect something mindless about American education, it's because the mind has been taken out of it. Only visible behavior counts. The NEA not only accepted all of this but was one of the main instruments for diffusing this educational philosophy among teachers. The passage of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, the single largest federal aid to education program ever enacted by Congress, opened the floodgates of federal money, and public education has never been the same since.

The Education Mafia - The "Education Trust" was made up of graduates in behavioral and educational psychology, from the most powerful and influential colleges and universities, and enjoyed tremendous funding. It had no constitution, no minutes, no officers, no bylaws, and no "public life" whereby its deliberations could be scrutinized. It was, in short, very much a private, if not secret, organization, determining the future of public, taxpayer-supported education. And we can assume that there were many secret meetings and conversations among the small inner circle to determine, among other things, who to place where. There was, of course, some incongruity in the notion of a small, self-appointed group of experts proposing a "democratic" revision of studies from the top down. Of course, the experts didn't bother to consult the parents of America.

The Humanist Curriculum - Easily the most important of the NEA's strategies is that concerning the content of education, for the socialist revolution wanted by the Progressives will have to be carried out by a younger generation indoctrinated in progressive, humanist values. The road to a humanist curriculum began in 1918 with the NEA's Seven Cardinal Principles which stressed humanist ethical values to replace those of traditional religion. The NEA has remained remarkably faithful to the Humanist Manifesto since 1933. For all practical purposes, the public school has become the parochial school for secular humanism. Its doctrines pervade the curriculum from top to bottom.
