Genesis 3:5, "For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."
Adam and Eve were doing fine by themselves until the serpent, Satan, came along and gave Eve some unbiblical advice. Things haven't changed much in 6,000 years. People can be extremely dangerous. More marriages are destroyed during a time of weakness by some well-meaning, snake-tongued, self-righteous, hypocrite than by any other influence. Adam and Eve were attacked from without by subtle, foolish, seemingly helpful advice. Yet their lives were utterly destroyed by that bad advice.
People will destroy your marriage faster than you can imagine if you listen to them during a time of marital trouble. What one ought to do is SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES as Jesus commanded in John 5:39. If you listen to people, they'll twist and pervert the Scriptures to destroy your marriage. Just as home-wreckers still do today, Satan twisted the meaning of the Scriptures to deceive Eve (Genesis 3:1). You need to listen to the Holy Spirit of God. God never gives anyone permission to quit their marriage, renege on their marriage vows and abandon the lifetime commitment made on their wedding day. It is wickedness to promote, encourage or nourish a divorce in any way. Woe unto this selfish and evil generation.
Eve in particular succumbed to bad advice which ruined her life, her husband's life and the lives of her children. This is commonplace today in America, where feminism has taught women to rebel against their husbands, quit their marriages during rough times and to become intolerant toward their husbands.
So take heed from Eve's stupidity, don't allow snake-tongued people to ruin your marriage. People don't care if they ruin your family, they still have theirs; or else they've already ruined their family and misery loves company. I'm not endorsing the music group the BeeGees, but they had it right in their song HOW DEEP IS YOUR LOVE when they sang... “We're living in a world of fools, breaking us down, when they all should let us be. We belong to your and me.” Or as the Bible states, “What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder” (Mark 10:9). We are living in a world of utter fools, who are quick to take sides, judge, and become emotionally involved in other people's marital disputes, oftentimes recommending divorce from a person they've never even met. God will judge them severely for treading upon sacred ground.
Adam and Eve didn't need any help. They were doing fine by themselves. Tragically, a snake came along and ruined their lives because Eve bought into a lie. The Bible reveals in Revelation 20:2 that the serpent who deceived Eve was the Devil, “And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years.” There are tens-of-millions of divorced women today in America, who have bought into the lie of some snake, and they have ruined the lives of their loved ones because of their own foolishness. Beware of the snakes in your life.
