I recently visited an Independent Baptist church that sang some Michael Smith songs, flashing the words on overhead projection screens. It made me sick. The church is doing much good, and they have a great youth department and other outreach ministries, and I admire the pastor; BUT, they are headed in the wrong direction by inviting that worm into their church. Their music is still decent, not Rock music; but Michael Smith is bad news for any church. It's just a matter of time. Like Elton John who won the hearts of tens-of-millions of Americans and led them into acceptance of homosexuality, Smith is leading Americans into apostasy.
On an upcoming scheduled July 2012 ocean cruise to New England, Michael Smith is yoking together with apostate Sean Hannity as one of his guest speakers and friends. Sean Hannity is a fraud, liar and deceiver at Fox News, and a shame to this country. I get sick just watching Hannity lie, which is why I stopped watching him. Hannity masquerades as a Christian and a conservative; but he's an unsaved Modernist (someone who pretends to be a Biblical Christian) and a heathen liberal in disguise...
Since 2003, Hannity has hosted country music–themed "Freedom Concerts" to raise money for charity, According to WHIO, more than $9 million has been raised by the concerts and by WHIO listeners as of 2009.
Artists such as Charlie Daniels, Billy Ray Cyrus, Hank Williams Jr., Ted Nugent, Montgomery Gentry, Martina McBride, Buddy Jewell, LeAnn Rimes, Lee Greenwood, Michael W. Smith, and Avalon have headlined at these concerts. Between musical sets, the concerts include short intermissions with politically conservative speakers such as Oliver North, G. Gordon Liddy, Mark Levin, Newt Gingrich, Jon Voight, and Rudy Giuliani. Headlining names for the 2010 concert series were Lynyrd Skynyrd, Charlie Daniels, and Michael W. Smith.

According to a World Net Daily report, Sean Hannity recently made an attempt to legitimize homosexuality...
Hannity identifies himself as a Catholic, and now he tells the listening public that the Church has mellowed out on homosexuality. Lots of Sean's fans will take that as gospel. He's wrong, but they will think he knows what he is talking about (because he usually does).
A caller beats me to it. The caller is polite and he knows more than Hannity in this case. "Sean, you're making me crazy," the caller laughs. "Take a look at the Catholic Catechism, number 2357: It says 'homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.'"
Amazingly, Hannity – the publicly acknowledged Catholic Hannity – asks "What catechism is that?" Now, I'm crazy too. Jab, jab at the phone. Again the caller is on the money, "THE Catechism." But Sean isn't interested. Sean dismissed the Catechism because, he says, he has consulted theologians on this matter and they say something different. This is dangerous.
The issue of legitimizing homosexuality necessarily attacks our social fabric.
You'll NEVER hear Michael Smith, Amy Grant, Mercy Me and all the other apostates take a stand for Jesus Christ as being THE ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN! Jesus said that He is ashamed of those believers who are ashamed of Him and the Bible in this adulterous and sinful generation.
Mark 8:38, “Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”
Contrary to what most Bible students think, Jesus was not speaking of the unsaved when He said...
Mark 8:35-36, “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
Perhaps you are asking, “Brother Dave, how do you know that Jesus was talking about Christians in Mark 8:35-36?” I know 100% sure because losing one's life is not the Biblical plan of salvation. You don't get saved by surrendering your life to live for Christ and the gospel. You get saved by placing your faith in Jesus as the Christ (John 20:31; Galatians 3:26; Ephesians 2:8-9). Losing one's life in service to Christ and the preaching of the gospel is God's perfect will for every believer's life.

The continual excuse of the Christian rockers is they're trying to reach the young people with the gospel of Jesus Christ by using rock as a tool.
Here's what a secular reporter in The Birmingham News wrote after watching a Michael W. Smith concert:
"If you weren't familiar with Michael W. Smith's standing in the world of contemporary Christian music, you might attend one of his concerts and come out none the wiser." (The Birmingham News, Feb. 12, 1993 p. 5c)
Amazing! After Michael W. Smith's concert, there was not even enough of God for the lost world to even know this "so-called CHRISTian star" was a Christian! What a pitiful testimony for a Christian!
How are you going to reach the young people with the gospel of Jesus Christ when they can not even tell you are a Christian!
A Christian is supposed to be peculiar (1 Peter 2:9), pure (1 Tim. 5:22), clean (2 Cor. 7:1), sanctified (1 Cor. 6:11), separated (2 Cor. 6:17) and holy (1 Peter 1:16). But not according to Michael:

Author and occult symbol researcher, Dr. Cathy Burns, was so alarmed by Michael W. Smith's use of the runes on his Big Picture album, she wrote Smith requesting an explanation. Here is her reply:
"When I wrote to Smith about this, his manager responded. He denied that
the record contained runic characters, but he did tell me that if I wanted
to know more about runes that I should check out my library for more
information! He may not be fully endorsing the runes, but he certainly didn't

In the book, Web of Darkness, former Satanist Sean Sellers says, "Runes are the oldest form of occult knowledge and magic . . . their use sets a person against God." (Sean Sellers, Web of Darkness, p. 72)
| Michael W. Smith's Christmastime album has the most bizarre album cover I have ever seen. Michael W. Smith is simply standing on a chair in some weird stance. What in the world is he doing? During a slide presentation on Christian Rock, I displayed Smith's Christmastime album cover and remarked "what a bizarre cover it was. And I had no idea what Smith was doing!" After the presentation, a man came forward and told me that Michael was "runing." He was forming the runic "T" and the bottom of the chair (we enclosed it in red) is forming the runic "M"! It is clearly taking place! Unbelievable! |

One of the most surprising "confessions" by any CCMer was made by Michael W. Smith in Inside Music magazine, (Jan/Feb 91, p.23). During the interview, Michael W. Smith was asked, "There's also the influence of such groups as Alan Parsons in your music. It's especially noticeable on the first record, the Michael W. Smith Project [even named after the Alan Parsons Project]." And Smith's reply, "DEFINITELY!" What? Alan Parsons is among the most occultic and bizarre groups in rock! Alan Parsons has songs titled: "Lucifer", the sacrilegious "Genesis Ch 1 v32" (there is no Genesis Chapter 1 verse 32), their album "Eve".
The Alan Parsons Project, album, Eye In The Sky (and several other albums) displays proudly on the cover the occultic Eye of Horus (also called the "all-seeing Eye" of Lucifer). According to
Harpers' Encyclopedia of Mystical & Paranormal Experience, The Eye of Horus "It has become commonly associated with esoterica and the occult." (Harpers' Encyclopedia of Mystical & Paranormal Experience, p. 197).Horus is known as the Sky God. Interesting. . . In Ephesians 2:2, the Bible calls Satan (aka Horus) as ". . . the prince of the power of the air. . ." According to Dictionary of Symbols the "eye" is also associated with the drug LSD, "Today it is used by subcultures using illicit drugs as a general symbol for altered or higher states of awareness, e.g., in association with the use of LSD. (Carl G. Liungman, Dictionary of Symbols, p. 502)
Get this! Like Alan Parsons, Michael W. Smith also has an album titled, I2(EYE). Of course, the name of Jesus is nowhere to be found in I2(EYE).
The Alan Parsons album Vulture Culture displays the occult symbol called the "ouroboros." It is a "serpent" (a.k.a. Satan) biting his tail. It represents Satan is Lord by surrounding the earth. The book Occult Geometry says of the ouroboros, "One form of the Circle is a serpent with a tail in its mouth. . . symbolizes evolution, the Serpent Circle involution. . ." (A.S. Raleigh, Occult Geometry, p. 10)
