Don't Be A
Religious Nut!

By David J. Stewart

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears” —2nd Timothy 4:3

A woman recently wrote me, trying to justify her divorce. She said that she had prayed repeatedly for God to show her if it was ok to divorce her husband or not. Then she said she mysteriously opened her Bible to Job 12:9, which reads, “Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?”

She said her heart was warmed and she knew at that moment God wanted her to file for divorce, because she read... “the LORD hath wrought this.” Not to be unkind, but honestly... she's nuts!

The woman is woefully deceived! What if she had opened her Bible to Job 17:1? ... “My breath is corrupt, my days are extinct, the graves are ready for me.” What a crazy way to seek God's will! I wrote this article to WARN anyone who might be foolish enough to try this crazy type of thing.

Folks, our life's decisions should be based upon SOUND DOCTRINE; and not upon whims, quirks, assumptions, or some fragment of Scripture we are taking way out of context.

You'd be shocked if you knew just how many people manipulate the Word of God like this in order to justify the most hideous sins.  Even the homosexual community is changing the Bible in an attempt to justify their wickedness? They claim that since God is Love, and homosexuality is a form of love (i.e., in their twisted minds), God must approve of being homosexual. God said they would do this in Romans 1:25, “Who changed the truth of God into a lie...”

This is why the word “sodomite” has been completely removed from the corrupt New International Version (NIV) of the Bible. Unrepentant sinners are trying to justify all sorts of sins nowadays with the Bible.

The same woman I just mentioned also stated that she had counseled with two ministers who both approved of her decision to divorce. Yet the Bible warns... “From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm” (1st Timothy 1:6,7). Honestly, 9-out-of-10 Bible teachers and ministers today are extremely DANGEROUS!

Just as 1st Timothy 1:6,7 states... Many men desire to teach the law (i.e., the Word of God), but they have no idea what they're talking about.  These are the fools who are sought out by the unrepentant sinners who desire to justify their sins. Guaranteed, you can find a minister nowadays who will show you Scripture to justify any sin you want to commit. Sadly, anything can be justified if you're willingly blind to the truth.

Jesus clearly taught in Matthew 19:8, “...Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.” This verse plainly condemns ALL divorce! Jesus said from the beginning of mankind, divorce was NOT allowed. Thus, it is only man's sinful pride and hardheartedness that causes divorce. Marriage vows are a PROMISE (i.e., “for better, for worse; 'til death do us part”), and no Scripture allows anyone to break a promise.

The woman above is seeking to justify her divorce at all cost, even if it means perverting the Bible; but Jesus said that only hardheartedness leads to divorce. 1st Timothy 1:19 states, “Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck.” The only reason why Christian marriages become shipwrecks is because someone(s) stopped believing the Bible and decided to quit. The Bible (i.e., sound doctrine) teaches that divorce is a sin. God hates divorce (Malachi 2:16).

The only proper way to interpret the Bible is to compare each verse to the entire scope of the Scriptures. All verses MUST be taken into consideration. If you're going to base your decisions upon God's Word, then please make sure you are basing your decisions upon SOUND DOCTRINE, rather than false doctrine. So if you're asking God if you should divorce, and you open the Bible to Genesis 31:13 which states, “...get thee out from this land... don't consider the verse a message from God... because it's not!

God speaks to us in tangible, understandable, and complete thoughts through His Word, i.e., sound doctrine. Many false doctrines and cults are based upon OBVIOUS misinterpretations of the Bible, and it's usually fragments and single verses deliberately taken out of context.

So I say in all kindness... Don't be a nut! SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES as Jesus commanded in John 5:39.
