Some Things The Bible Says God Cannot Do

The question was asked of Abraham in Genesis 18:14... "Is any thing too hard for the LORD?"  The answer is a confident "No."  There is nothing too hard for the Lord to do!  God is Omnipotent, meaning He can do anything.  Since Jesus Christ came to earth as the Godhead incarnate (i.e., God in the flesh), Jesus is also Omnipotent.  However, there are certain things that God's holiness won't allow Him to do:

  1. God cannot lie. Titus 1:2 states, "In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began."  There's a group of false prophets going around in our churches today, teaching that it's possible to lose one's eternal salvation.  Such teaching would make God a liar.  Salvation is a free gift from God (Romans 5:15; 6:23), paid for by Jesus' precious, literal, physical blood (1st Peter 1:18,19; Revelation 1:5).

  2. God cannot be tempted with evil.  James 1:13 states, "Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man."  Many homosexuals claim that God created them queer, and thus falsely conclude it must be acceptable to God.  God is Holy, i.e., Moral Perfection.  How dare anyone attribute sin to God.  Many cigarette smokers claim that smoking must be acceptable to God since He created tobacco.  Well, just because God created Poison Ivy doesn't mean we should bathe in it.

  3. God cannot change His Word.  Matthew 5:18 states, "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled."  John 10:35, "...the scripture cannot be broken."  Tragically, sinful men tamper with the Bible... "for ye have perverted the words of the living God" (Jeremiah 23:36).  There is NO more evil a publication than the New International Version of the Bible.  God's Word is Incorruptible (1st Peter 1:23).

  4. God cannot pardon Christ-rejecters.  This is the "unpardonable sin."  Matthew 12:32 warns, "And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come."  The only sin which cannot be forgiven is to reject Jesus Christ as one's personal Savior.  If a person dies in their sins (John 8:24), Hell will be their eternal abode (Revelation 20:11-15).

You Need HIS Righteousness!
