So You Don't Think There's a Hell?
by David J. Stewart
"But the fearful, and unbelieving ... shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." —Revelation 21:8
Will you risk your eternal soul's destiny upon human reasoning, evolution, worldly philosophy, false religion, or just plain ole stubborn unbelief? The Word of God clearly teaches that UNBELIEVERS will be cast into the Lake of Fire, Hell (Greek, "Gehenna"), to be tormented FOREVER. We read in Jude 7...
"Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire."
2nd Thessalonians 1:8 states...
"In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ."
Why risk an eternity in the fires and torment of Hell? God is so wonderful that He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to pay for all your sins. Thus, eternal life is a free gift, paid for by the precious blood of Christ. All you have to do to be saved is to admit that you are a sinner, deserving of Hell, and then turn in faith to the Lord Jesus Christ, the Saviour, and believe upon Him to take your sins away. "Believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved..." (Acts 16:31). John 3:16 proclaims, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." You don't have to go to Hell my friend, just believe on Christ as your personal Saviour. Ask Jesus to forgive your sins and take you to Heaven when you die. Place 100% of your faith in Christ alone--NOT, works, baptism, religion, prayers, sacraments, merit, church, or anything else. Anything less than total trust in Christ is no faith at all. Only Jesus has the nail-scared hands and feet, so only trust Jesus.
But you say, "wait a minute, I don't believe in Hell." Why not? The Bible teaches that Jesus created the universe (John 1:1-3; Colossians 1:16). We see it all around us. The Bibles teaches that God created the earth (Genesis 1:1; 1st Corinthians 10:26). We read in Genesis 1:14-19 that God created the stars, which we see in the sky at night. The Bible teaches that God created all the animals (Genesis 1:25). The Bible teaches that God created man (Genesis 1:26). The Bible also teaches that God created a place called "Hell" (Matthew 25:41). If all of the things and places which the Bible claims God created exist, then why would you be so foolish as to not believe there is a Hell or a Heaven? I have no doubt that Hell is located in the center of the earth. Some intellectuals claim that Hell is only an ancient myth, a fable, folklore. They try to discredit Biblical teachings concerning Hell, by claiming that ancient legends contain similar stories of eternal damnation and doom. In effect, they imply that the Word of God is only a series of fables.
But is It? The Bible has yet to be proven wrong. God's Word is historically, archeologically, scientifically, Geographically, and Chronologically flawless. Could such a Book be written, by 40 writers, over a span of 1500 years, each writer in his own style, and yet maintain incredible continuity? The odds are impossible. We understand, when we consider that the Bible Itself claims to be the Word of God, which came, "...not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost" (2nd Peter 1:21).
In lieu of such evidence, and tons more, why would you risk going to Hell forever if what the Bible claims is true? What is so hard about placing your faith in Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour? I mean, after all, it's FREE! Jesus, unlike all the crooked TV evangelists, doesn't ever ask us for a dime. Jesus doesn't want your money, He wants your heart, your faith. If you go to Hell, then you'll have no one to blame except yourself, because God couldn't make it any easier to get saved. Billions of people on the earth are trusting upon their good works and religion to save them. They will all be very sorry when burning in Hell one day. Isaiah 64:6 declares that our self-righteousness is filth in God's sight. The only thing which will impress God is if we place all of our trust upon Jesus Christ as our Saviour (John 14:6).
Please don't go to Hell. Salvation is free, paid for by Jesus' precious blood. The only reason anyone ever goes to Hell is because of their own hatred, pride, and stubbornness. If you don't believe, then you will go to Hell.
"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." —John 3:36
