John 1:29, “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”
Behold the Lamb! Notice carefully that the Bible doesn't say, “Behold the
Lord!” It doesn't say, “Behold the prophet!” The Bible doesn't say, “Behold
the King!” The Bible doesn't say, “Behold the Creator!” No, the Bible says,
“Behold the Lamb!”
You see, the world needs a Savior first and foremost. John the Baptist said, “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world!”
The world needs a Savior! Jesus is that Savior, the precious Son of God! Jesus is that Lamb! Jesus could have come down from the cross and returned to His throne of glory in Heaven.
Jesus could have dropped that cross on the way to Calvary. He could have gave up. Jesus could have called tens-of-thousands of angels; but He allowed the wicked to crucify Him, motivated by His unconditional love for mankind.
I was sinking deep in sin, far from the peaceful shore; but love lifted me. Thank God in Heaven for the precious Lamb of God!
